Weather Warning

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The met office has issued the following weather warning for next week.
Met Office – Extreme warm weather warning.

As of today, the Met Office have raised the extreme warm weather warning from amber to red for some parts of the country. See below the updated alert from the Met Office and you will see that the red weather warning covers parts of Essex.

ECC colleagues, along with the Emergency Planning Team are meeting daily to discuss this. We would like to confirm that the change from amber to red does not increase the risk of danger, it just means it is more certain that these parts of the UK will hit the high temperatures.

The NHS guidance for coping in a heatwave can be found here: Heatwave: how to cope in hot weather – NHS (www.nhs.uk)

As the temperature is very likely to be very high next week my advice would be to send your young person into school in either their PE kit, or clothing that is appropriate for the hot weather, I do not expect students to arrive in school uniform if a cooler and practical alternative is more suitable.

Regards
