Supporting Pupils Learning

St John’s is a non-maintained day school providing education and independence skills for young people aged from 5 to 19 years with multiple and complex disabilities.

Many come from socially deprived backgrounds and all our young people have communication difficulties which impact on their intellectual, emotional and social functioning. Conditions include Downís syndrome, epilepsy, hearing impairments and mental health issues and in recent years we have also admitted a number of young people with Autism and ADHD.

Our children are bussed in daily from 10 different local boroughs including Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Newham and Redbridge.

While local authority fees paid for each child help to meet our running costs, they do not cover special equipment and other needs, however essential.

We host two major fundraising events each year, a summer fete in July and a Christmas concert, please refer to our diary dates (link to diary dates)

I do hope that you will be able to help us. Our young people miss out on so many things that we all take for granted and it is only through the kindness of good people like yourselves that we are able to help them in the way that we do.

Do please contact us if you need any further information or if you wish to visit the School to experience St John’s first hand. (link to contact us)
