St Johns PE Primary and Sports premium
This premium is an amount of £16,000 for schools with 17 or more pupils plus £10 per qualifying pupil which must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles. It is intended to facilitate the Department of Education vision which aims that all pupils leaving primary school should be physically literate and should possess the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
In the previous year 2021/2022 the amount of £16,210 was used in part to pay for the following,
-The installation of a playground area which includes rocker, swings, roundabout, trampette, play house.
This year 22/23 the amount of £16,170 will be used for the completion of the school sensory circuit which runs alongside the track that was installed eighteen months ago using part of the Primary PE premium for that academic year.
The impact of the pupil PE and Sports premium;
The playground and sensory circuit encourage physical activities stimulates heart-healthy cardiovascular fitness while also offering opportunities to increase muscle strength, agility, balance, motor skills and even the ability to strategize. These essential skills will assist them in all aspects of life, whilst also preventing injuries, obesity and other health concerns that can arise later in life. Cooperation and collaboration are key social benefits of playgrounds. Children learn to communicate, share and work together, whilst establishing new and exciting friendships.
