Science is a popular subject with our students. The science room comprises of a small Laboratory Area where we can carry out basic Chemistry experiments. There is also a little zoological area where we have at times kept Worms, Ants, Giant African Land Snails, Tadpoles, Caterpillars and there is a permanent aquarium and vivarium (reptile tank) where we have a couple of breeding Corn Snakes.
St John’s is equipped with a state of the art greenhouse, which the pupils often use when learning about and growing plants. The school grounds contain a large field which is often used for science activities (Rocket Science, Hot Air balloons, Minibeasts etc.).
Much of the Science however, is taught in the learning area of the Science room where the pupils often participate in interactive activities on the whiteboard as well as view relevant videos, pictures and information related to the topics covered.
