COVID-19 – Temporary Closure of St John’s College – 19 March 2020

Thursday, 19 March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

COVID-19: Temporary Closure of St John’s College

Following on from our earlier communication regarding the close monitoring of the national and international situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have followed government advice and taken the decision to close St John’s College for the safety and wellbeing of our most vulnerable students.

This is a regrettable decision, as we know that this may cause disruption for students and their families and as a result had tried to stay open for as long as possible.
However, due to the number of staff who are self-isolating and/or are off sick, continuing to run this provision safely, with appropriate staff to student ratios, has become very challenging. As you will be aware we employ a wide range of staff and job roles to provide a holistic provision for students.

These include teachers, learning support workers, and many more. If several of these roles are absent it potentially jeopardises the quality and safety of the provision we can offer.

Therefore, St John’s College will close temporarily from 2.30pm, Friday 20th March 2020.

I sincerely apologise for this.

We expect this could continue until the Easter break but cannot at this stage confirm.

Updates can also be found on our website.

Thank you for your cooperation and take care.

Head of St John’s School and College
