Some of the comments from our recent parental questionnaire.

The confidence of the pupils comes from them feeling secure in their environment and the knowledge that they are liked for who they are. However they are given a set of expectations and are helped and encouraged to aspire to these expectations

I am truly overwhelmed by your efforts and that of the incredible team of speech and language therapists at St John’s School. …sometimes as Carers/Parents, we miss opportunities to appreciate how much difference professionals like you do make in our lives and that of our children. Often, it’s the little conversations, the easily-forgotten asides, the friendly smile and indeed brief compliments that mean so much and make the difference to carers like me. To avoid forgetting this important gesture, I just wanted to take some time to express how much I enjoyed talking to you and listening to you last week, and the advice you gave me. Really, I only had a vague notion of the support the boys needed, but you translated my concerns into action. Even more the attention to detail at making the travel stories for the boys, not forgetting the teddy raffles during the summer fete last Saturday.

Your team truly stand out and I am blessed to have my boys supported and nurtured by you. I am particularly moved by your swift follow ups on information about swimming, the school nurse, the waiting list for the School Paediatrician, as well as going out of your way and making contacts with other colleagues just that my boys and I can access the right support.

Thank you! …for caring,

After visiting St John’s ,for the first time as a prospective parent, I was so impressed by the caring, family atmosphere that I knew that I wanted my youngest son to come here. After an exhausting ,year long, battle Ian finally arrived at the school. Four years later I can say that our expectations have been more than met. Ian has improved from the little boy who was locked in his own world and following his own agenda to one who wants to take part in everything that is going on. The biggest thrill for me is to hear him talking and reading as he was virtually non verbal when he arrived.

Recently I became a governor at the school in the hope that I can give back something of what St John’s has given to Ian and our family.

The school and community ethos that is so evidently strong in your beautiful school

Our son has thoroughly enjoyed his first year at St John’s School.  His confidence has come on in leaps and bounds, the transformation is wonderful to see and it’s lovely to see him so inspired and motivated.  We are very proud of him! Our son speaks very warmly about his peers and how kind the children are.  He has a good set of friends and is very settled and very proud to be at St John’s.

Thank you to you all!  Never at any point in this year have we doubted you and your team, or our decision to send our child to St John’s!
